Lawsuit against Richmond County BOE | News
AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG)- A lawsuit was filed last week against the Richmond County Board of Education. Glenn Hill High School teachers seek damages after they say, their principal caused them emotional distress.
Former Glenn Hills principal Dr. Wayne Frazier is linked to the lawsuit filed by two of his former teachers from that school.
Dr. Frazier is known in the community for his unconventional methods of managing his school. FOX54 aired a story in January 2012 reflecting those methods.
However, a recent lawsuit indicates not everyone felt his methods were appropriate. Linda Lewis and Gale Bale filed complaints last Friday against the Richmond County BOE.
According to the initial complaint, both are seeking damages for the "infliction of emotional distress and mental anguish caused by a hostile work environment."
One claim reads, "(the) defendant's principal would regularly yell, curse and scream at students and staff members over the school intercom system and professional learning meetings."
Richmond County BOE Superintendent Frank Roberson was unable to comment since the case is in litigation.
Dr. Frazier is now the principal at Tubman Education Center, an alternative school for students to improve their behavior and grades.
FOX54's Elizabeth Rawlins sat down with Dr. Frazier on Thursday to take a look at the other side of the story. Dr. Frazier told FOX54 he wasn't able to talk about it because of where the case currently stands.
Bale is still employed at Glenn Hills High School and Lewis now resides in Lowndes County. Both teachers are seeking damages of $300,000 each.
